Reverse description A full-color photographic portrait of a leopard (Panthera pardus) in close-up fills the central field, rendered in naturalistic polychrome coloring applied over the struck silver surface. The animal is depicted facing three-quarters to the right, its distinctive spotted coat rendered in fine detail against a warm ochre and tan savanna background. To the upper right of the field, the Miss Universe franchise logo and the stylized legend NAMIBIA appear in black script. The denomination $10 is inscribed on a plain silver reserve at the base of the design, beneath the colored insert, with a beaded border encircling the entire reverse.

Additional information

Namibia's Miss Universe commemorative program launched in the mid-1990s as the newly independent nation — sovereign only since 1990 — used numismatic issues aggressively to generate foreign currency revenue. Michelle McLean, a Namibian, had won the Miss Universe title in 1992, and this coin capitalized directly on that victory. The series was aimed squarely at thematic collectors rather than domestic circulation.
