Obverse description The national coat of arms of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a three-masted sailing ship at sea, a rising sun, a dove in flight, and a palm tree on a rocky shoreline, all within a wreath of leaves. A ribbon across the shield bears the national motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The date 2000 is divided by the shield, with 20 to the left and 00 to the right. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper periphery, while a secondary legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA and the denomination 10 DOLLARS appear at the lower portion of the coin. The design is rendered in bold relief against a dotted border.

Additional information

Liberia's late-1990s and early-2000s collector series were produced almost entirely for the international novelty coin market, not for domestic circulation. The country was deep in the Second Liberian Civil War by 2000, and monetary infrastructure had largely collapsed — these pieces were licensed to foreign minting operations and sold by mail-order dealers, never meaningfully entering Liberian commerce.
