Opmerkingen

Indiana, Pennsylvania's First National Bank operated under charter during the long run of the 1902 Date Back and Plain Back series — notes from this issuer carry the Pennsylvania bank's charter number rather than any distinguishing regional feature, which makes provenance the primary point of interest here. The 1902 series was produced in three distinct sub-types as the BEP modified date panels over time, and determining which sub-type applies requires examining the back plate closely.

Indiana County national bank notes are genuinely scarce. Small-town Pennsylvania charters issued relatively low aggregate totals, and survivors are underrepresented even against other rural mid-Atlantic issuers.
