| Beschrijving voorzijde | The national coat of arms of Liberia is depicted centrally within a beaded border, featuring a sailing ship on the sea, a palm tree, and a rising sun within a shield, surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper periphery, while a second inscription REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA appears on a ribbon scroll in the lower field. The date 2001 is divided across the lower field, with '20' to the left and '01' to the right of the central device. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Liberia's early 2000s commemorative program produced an enormous volume of gold-plated base-metal issues targeting the collector novelty market rather than circulation, and this Kennedy piece is squarely in that category. The country was under the government of Charles Taylor at the time of issue — a regime internationally isolated and financially desperate enough that foreign-licensed commemorative coinage had become a notable revenue stream.
