Reverse description A fully rigged three-masted carrack under sail occupies the central field, depicted in fine relief navigating stylized waves; the sails bear prominent cross pattée devices and a heraldic flag flies from the mainmast. The design commemorates Bahamian independence and evokes the age of European maritime exploration. The legend INDEPENDENCE 10 JULY 1973 arcs along the upper periphery, while 10 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower periphery, both separated by dot stops. A Franklin Mint mintmark appears below the central design, and a beaded inner border encircles the entire composition.
