Reverse description A tightly coiled snake, rendered in high relief with finely detailed scale texture, occupies the central field, its head visible at the centre of the spiral gazing outward. The engraving, by Konrad Wachelko, employs a combination of frosted and polished surfaces to create a dynamic contrast across the serpent's body. A decorative Greek-key meander border frames the entire design at the rim, referencing traditional Chinese ornamental motifs appropriate to the Lunar New Year theme. The legend CANADA 2013 arcs along the upper border, while 10 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower border, all within the meander frame. The engraver's initials SN appear discreetly to the right of the central motif.
