Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The central portrait is framed within a square cartouche set diagonally against the coin's field, which is richly ornamented with four distinct decorative border panels featuring geometric meander patterns, floral rosettes, herringbone motifs, and Polynesian-style carved relief designs. The legend ELIZABETH II · NIUE ISLAND arcs along the lower portion of the cartouche, flanked by the date 2020 above and the denomination 10 DOLLARS to the right, with the fineness Ag 999 and weight 5 oz inscribed to the left. The Czech Mint mark CM appears at the lower left of the portrait within the inner frame.

Additional information

Niue has functioned as a prolific licensing vehicle for the Perth Mint and other producers since the 1990s, issuing commemorative silver under its authority while having virtually no independent monetary system of its own. The arrangement is legally sound — Niue is a self-governing state in free association with New Zealand — but the coins are produced entirely for the collector market and never circulate on the island.

Without the specific commemorative subject for KM#3947, little more can be responsibly said. The 5-ounce format at this diameter was a common production configuration for high-relief collector pieces of this period.
