| Reverse description | The central device features a full-color reproduction of the world's first adhesive postage stamp, the British 1840 One Penny Black, depicted with its characteristic black ground, the left-facing laureate effigy of Queen Victoria, ornamental corner stars, the inscription POSTAGE at the top, and ONE PENNY at the foot flanked by plate letters H on either side. The stamp image is rendered in faithful black coloring against the gold field of the coin.
