Reverse description Dynamic beach volleyball scene engraved in high relief, depicting a male player diving low to dig the ball in the lower field, while a female player in festive carnival-style attire leaps dramatically in the upper right. Two colored applique flags occupy the left field — the Brazilian flag above and the British Virgin Islands flag below — rendered in full color enamel. The face value $10 appears in the central left field, and the legend OLYMPIC arcs along the upper border.

Additional information

The British Virgin Islands has no independent monetary policy and issues commemorative coinage purely as a licensing arrangement — the territory uses the US dollar in daily commerce and these pieces are struck for the collector market by the Pobjoy Mint or similar contractors, never entering local circulation. The 2016 Rio Olympics generated an enormous wave of such issues across dependent territories worldwide, most sharing dies with minor authority changes.

KM#501.2 distinguishes this from the non-colored variant (.1), the sole difference being the applied color layer.
