Stylized lightning bolt motifs radiate outward around the figure in incuse relief. The bold stylized legend POKÉMON appears along the upper arc, the character designation ENTEI with trademark symbol is inscribed to the left of the figure, the denomination $10 appears to the right, and the copyright notice © Nintendo/Pokémon is inscribed vertically along the lower left rim. |

Niue has long operated as one of the Pacific's most prolific licensing mints, issuing collector coins under agreements that have little to do with the island's 1,500-person population and everything to do with royalty arrangements with foreign distributors. This 2002 Entei piece is part of a Pokémon series issued under such an arrangement, timed to capitalize on the franchise's peak Western commercial momentum following the 1998 North American launch.
KM#162 is one of several Niue Pokémon issues from this period now tracked by collectors as a distinct sub-series. Mintages were never officially published by the issuing authority.
