| 正面描述 | The obverse displays the coat of arms of Niue at center, a quartered shield surmounted by a royal crown and flanked on either side by native fern fronds serving as supporters. The four quarters of the shield depict the Southern Cross stars, a hut with human figures, a yellow grove with a standing figure, a sheaf, a sailing ship, and crossed hammers, all rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The legend NIUE appears along the upper left arc and the date 1997 along the upper right arc, both in raised serif lettering. |

Issued in 1997, the year Diana died in Paris on 31 August, this coin was part of a flood of commemorative silver pieces produced by small Pacific island nations exploiting their minting rights for the international collector market. Niue, with a population under 2,000, has long licensed its coinage authority to overseas mints — this piece having no meaningful circulation function on the island whatsoever.
The 28.28g/.925 specification is the standard Commonwealth commemorative format, used across dozens of issuers simultaneously.
