| Obverse description | Forward-facing draped bust of Bess Truman, 33rd First Lady of the United States, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curled hair and drop earrings. The legend BESS TRUMAN arcs along the upper border, while IN GOD WE TRUST appears in three lines to the left of the effigy and LIBERTY, the date 2015, and the W mintmark are inscribed to the right. Along the lower border, the ordinal designation 33rd and the service dates 1945-1953 are inscribed. The designer's initials JI (Joel Iskowitz) and PH (Phebe Hemphill) appear in the lower left and lower right fields, respectively. |
