| 正面描述 | Central field features the full coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia, depicting a sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, and a rising sun above a shoreline, with a dove in flight and a plow in the foreground. The shield is framed by an ornate wreath of leaves. A ribbon cartouche beneath the shield bears the legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA, while a scrolled banner encircling the upper portion of the arms reads THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The outer legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper rim, and the date 20 02 flanks the shield in the lower field. |

Liberia's ECU-themed issues of the early 2000s were pure souvenir product — struck for the collector market with no meaningful connection to either Liberian monetary history or the European Currency Unit, which had itself ceased to exist in 1999 when the euro replaced it. The ECU denomination had never been legal tender in any conventional sense even in Europe; it functioned primarily as a unit of account within the European Monetary System from 1979 onward.
That a Liberian "10 Dollars" coin carries the ECU branding three years after the unit's abolition tells you everything about the intended audience: Franklin Mint-style distributors selling themed sets to European collectors unfamiliar with — or unbothered by — the anachronism.
