| Obverse description | The national arms of Liberia displayed centrally within an ornate shield: a three-masted sailing ship on the sea, a palm tree, and a rising sun, with a dove in flight above and a plough in the lower field. The shield is surmounted by a scroll-work crest and flanked by decorative mantling. The motto legend THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE encircles the arms on a curved ribbon. The outer legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA runs along the upper and lower periphery, with the date 20-02 divided to either side of the shield. |
