| Reverse description | The reverse presents a full-length effigy of John of Luxembourg (John the Blind, King of Bohemia and Count of Luxembourg, 1296–1346), depicted as a youthful crowned figure standing facing, wearing a long belted tunic and a clasp-fastened mantle, holding a sceptre orb in his right hand and a diagonal sword in his left. The composition is divided into four quadrant panels: to the upper left, clouds and sky; to the lower left, the facade of Notre-Dame de Paris rendered in fine Gothic detail; to the upper right, clouds; and to the lower right, a Romanesque rotunda church set within a rolling landscape with a winding road and trees. An engraver's monogram appears in the lower right field of the coin. |
