| Reverse description | The reverse features a right-facing laureate and diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in the style of the Arnold Machin portrait, rendered in high relief at centre. Flanking the bust on either side are two naturalistic coloured sprays of Australian golden wattle (Acacia pycnantha), with yellow blossoms and green foliage applied by selective colour. Above the effigy, a gilt medallion bearing the crowned royal cypher EIIR is prominently placed at the top of the field. The date inscription 3 February - 1 April 1954 arcs along the upper border, commemorating Queen Elizabeth II's historic Wattle Tour of Australia. Below the effigy, the curved inscriptions read Queen Elizabeth II Wattle Tour Australia, with a farewell quotation curving around the lower field: And now I say goodbye - God be with you - Until next time I can visit Australia. The denomination TEN DOLLARS appears in the lower exergue, separated by a dentilated inner border. |
