Andorra issued commemorative silver coinage through the authority of its co-princes — in this case, Joan Martí i Alanis, who served as Bishop of Urgell from 1971 to 2003, one of the two co-princes under Andorra's unusual feudal diarchic structure alongside the French head of state.
