正面描述 At center, the crowned coat of arms of Andorra is depicted in sharp relief, flanked by the denomination '10 D.' in large numerals to either side. The word 'EURO' appears in the lower field beneath the shield, with the date '1997' below it. A circular legend runs along the periphery reading 'JOAN D.M. BISBE D'URGELL I PRINCEP D'ANDORRA', identifying the co-prince Joan Martí i Alanis in his ecclesiastical and princely capacity. The design is rendered in a clean, modern style with a polished proof finish.

背面描述 The reverse depicts a partial frontal view of the Casa de la Vall, known as the Palau del Princep (Prince's Palace), rendered in fine architectural detail showing the roofline, facade, a small window, a columned doorway with balustrade, and the Andorran national coat of arms affixed to the exterior wall. The building is presented centrally within the coin's field, cropped to suggest monumental scale. Surrounding the architectural motif is a border of twelve five-pointed stars arranged in a circle, evoking the European aesthetic. The legend 'PALAU DEL PRINCEP' is inscribed along the upper left periphery within the star border.

附加信息

Joan Martí i Alanis served as Bishop of Urgell from 1971 to 2003, making him one of the longest-serving holders of that office — and therefore one of the longest-serving co-princes of Andorra in modern history. The bishopric's co-princeship is not ceremonial: it derives from an 1278 paréage between the Bishop of Urgell and the Count of Foix, a feudal arrangement that has never been formally dissolved and remains the constitutional basis of Andorran sovereignty to this day.

Andorra adopted its first written constitution only in 1993, four years before this coin was struck.
