Andorra's coinage authority issued a prolonged series of themed silver pieces in the early 2010s tied to classical virtues, of which this is one. The principality's unusual status — co-ruled by the Bishop of Urgell and the President of France, a feudal arrangement dating to a 1278 paréage — means its numismatic program operates outside the Eurozone framework despite the country using the euro as its de facto currency.
