Andorra's coinage authority issued a prolonged series of themed silver pieces in the early 2010s tied to classical virtues, of which this is one. The principality's unusual status — co-ruled by the Bishop of Urgell and the President of France, a feudal arrangement dating to a 1278 paréage — means its numismatic program operates outside the Eurozone framework despite the country using the euro as its de facto currency. Andorra struck no official coinage of its own until 1982, making the entire modern series relatively young by any standard.
