Obverse description Printed in blue on a polychrome underprint, in intaglio and lithography, the obverse centres on a portrait vignette of Manuel Ferraz de Campos Salles, 4th President of the Republic (1898–1902), flanked on either side by the numeral 10. A diagonal manuscript conference signature crosses the body of the note. In the upper-left and lower-right corners, blue overprint rosettes applied by the Casa da Moeda carry the inscription CASA DA MOEDA / 10 / CRUZEIROS, converting the original 10 Mil Réis denomination to 10 Cruzeiros.
Obverse lettering 10 10 REPUBLICA DOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL SE PAGARÁ AO PORTADOR DESTA A QUANTIA DE NO THESOURO NACIONAL 10 10 CASA DA MOEDA 10 CRUZEIROS 10 10 CASA DA MOEDA 10 CRUZEIROS DEZ MIL REIS VALOR RECEBIDO 10 10 AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY.

Reverse description Printed in green in intaglio, the reverse centres on a panoramic vignette of an aerial view taken from the upper floor of the Monroe Palace, with the palace gardens in the foreground and one of the pavilions of the Public Promenade on Beira-Mar Avenue beyond, based on a photograph by Augusto Malta dated 21 December 1906. The central vignette is flanked on both sides by the numeral 10.
