Obverse description Printed in blue-grey intaglio on a fine guilloche underprint, the obverse carries an oval portrait vignette of Manuel José Arce at left. The bank title EL BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DE EL SALVADOR runs along the upper border, with the denomination DIEZ COLONES in bold lettering at centre, accompanied by the bearer clause PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR and a reference to Article 39 of the constitutional law. The issue date 4 DE SEPTIEMBRE DE 1957, series designation HC, place of issue San Salvador, and three signature lines for Director, Presidente, and Cajero appear in the lower portion, with the printer's imprint at the foot.
