Alderney, though a dependency of Guernsey, has never operated its own circulating coinage — any pattern strikes produced under its name are collector-oriented issues authorised through Guernsey's own monetary authority. The 2004 date places this squarely in a period when Nordic Gold was gaining traction across Europe following its adoption for the €0.10, €0.20, and €0.50 euro coins in 1999, making the alloy a natural choice for any issuer wanting to signal euro-adjacent credibility without actually joining the eurozone.
As a pattern, it never entered circulation on Alderney — an island of roughly 2,000 residents that uses the pound sterling in daily commerce.
