| Obverse description | The obverse bears the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, depicted at approximately 77 years of age, with bare head, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The portrait, engraved by Susan Taylor, presents the Queen in a dignified, mature likeness consistent with the fourth definitive Canadian effigy.
