Opmerkingen

Canadian Tire 'money' was introduced in 1958 as a loyalty scheme — paper coupons redeemable in-store, functionally replacing the metal tokens some retailers used. By the mid-1990s, the program had become an oddly durable piece of Canadian commercial culture, which prompted this 1996 commemorative marking the corporation's 75th anniversary. BA International (the successor identity to British American Bank Note) printed it, the same Ottawa firm responsible for legitimate Canadian currency, which gave the coupons their convincingly banknote-like feel from the start.
