| Opmerkingen |
Torreperogil is a small olive-growing municipality in Jaén province, Andalusia. This note belongs to the vast proliferation of locally issued cartones and vales that appeared across Republican-held Spain from mid-1936 onward, when the Civil War effectively severed provincial towns from the national coin supply — small denomination bronze and copper coinage vanished from circulation almost overnight, hoarded or melted down.
The official stamp is the sole security measure, which was entirely typical of these municipal emergency issues. Authentication rested on local recognition, not sophisticated printing.
