Mas de Barberans is a small municipality in the Terra Alta comarca of Tarragona, and this 10 céntimos note belongs to the vast emergency coinage phenomenon of the Spanish Civil War — specifically the wave of locally issued paper fractional currency that flooded Catalonia from 1936 onward after metallic coin effectively vanished from circulation.
