Tranvías de Barcelona Colectivizados was one of the many transport enterprises seized and run by anarcho-syndicalist workers' committees — primarily CNT-affiliated — following the July 1936 revolutionary uprising in Barcelona. These small-denomination vales were emergency scrip, issued because the broader economic disruption had caused a severe shortage of small change throughout Catalonia. Dozens of collectives, factories, and municipalities issued their own fractional currency during this period; the tramway workers' version is among the more straightforwardly functional examples, printed by a known Barcelona commercial house rather than improvised means.

The CNT collectivization of public transit was formally recognized under the Catalan government's October 1936 collectivization decree.
