| Obverse description | Central shield displaying the Honduran coat of arms, featuring a triangular volcano scene within an inner circle, encircled by the legend REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS and the date 1871 in the lower portion of the shield. The escutcheon is surmounted by a mural crown with feathered crest, flanked on either side by bundles of lances and quivers of arrows tied with ribbons. | Reverse description | A central tree, symbolizing the national ceiba, divides the field and denomination, with crossed laurel or olive branches at the base and five-pointed stars flanking the upper portion of the tree. The peripheral legend carries the national motto and commemorative independence date, with the silver fineness indicated in the exergual area. The design alludes to the fiftieth anniversary of Central American independence from Spain. |
