Additional information

Honduras spent much of the 1860s and early 1870s in monetary disarray, relying heavily on foreign coinage and informal exchange. The 1871 pattern series, of which this copper 10 centavos is a part, was produced as the government evaluated designs and compositions ahead of establishing a more coherent national coinage. Copper was under serious consideration before silver won out for the circulating decimal issues that followed.

KM#Pn14 never reached circulation. Survivors exist in tiny numbers, almost certainly distributed among officials and mint contacts rather than preserved through any formal process.
