| Descrizione del dritto | The obverse is set against a light guilloche underprint with ornate lathe-work borders running along all four edges, interspersed with numeral 10 counters. At centre, the Argentine national coat of arms is presented within an oval vignette, flanked on either side by large numeral 10 denomination figures with CTS abbreviations. The upper legend reads BUENOS AYRES, AGOSTO 1° DE 1873, with the issuer name EL BANCO NACIONAL in bold letterpress across the mid-section, and the promise text Pagará al portador y a la vista DIEZ CENTAVOS FUERTES en las monedas determinadas por la Ley Nacional inscribed below, with Series B notation and a red serial number at right. |

The Banco Nacional of Argentina — not to be confused with the later Banco Nacional founded in 1872, which issued this note — operated under chronic capital pressure from the outset. The 10 Centavos Fuertes denomination is among the smallest fractional values in the series, issued at a moment when small-change scarcity in Buenos Aires was severe enough that private banks were expected to fill the gap left by inadequate coin supply.
ABNC handled the full series. The "Fuertes" designation distinguished these notes from the depreciating paper peso corriente, asserting a harder monetary standard that the bank struggled to actually maintain.
