The central device is flanked on both sides by symmetrical laurel branches meeting at the base with a tied bow, forming a wreath that frames the denomination. A beaded inner border runs along the full circumference of the coin.

Dodatkowe informacje	The switch to nickel clad steel for this issue reflected El Salvador's broader effort to reduce coinage costs during a period of post-civil-war fiscal strain — the Peace Accords were signed in January 1992, the same year this composition was introduced. The previous KM#155 type had used a more expensive alloy, and the changeover was purely economic.
