| Beschrijving voorzijde | Left-facing bareheaded portrait of Francisco Morazán occupies the central field, rendered in moderate relief with fine hair detail. The circular legend REPÚBLICA DE EL SALVADOR runs along the upper periphery, while the date appears in the lower exergue. The coin exhibits a distinctive heptagonal security rim impression around the edge, visible as a series of flat facets framing the round flan. |

The switch to nickel clad steel for this issue reflected El Salvador's broader effort to reduce coinage costs during a period of post-civil-war fiscal strain — the Peace Accords were signed in January 1992, the same year this composition was introduced. The previous KM#155 type had used a more expensive alloy, and the changeover was purely economic.
