| 表面の説明 | Central device features a spread eagle displayed, facing left, with wings raised and talons resting on a rocky outcrop; the eagle bears on its breast a circular shield containing a triangle, emblematic of the Honduran coat of arms. The circumferential legend reads 'C.A. REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS' along the upper arc, with the denomination '10 CENTAVOS' inscribed along the lower arc. The design is executed in a bold, high-relief engraving style characteristic of mid-nineteenth-century American die work. |

Honduras struck these small silver pieces during a period of chronic monetary instability, when the country's coinage was perpetually supplemented — and often displaced — by foreign silver circulating at varying discounts. The 1878–1879 issues were produced under contract at the Tegucigalpa mint, which operated with limited equipment and inconsistent planchet quality throughout this decade. Die alignment problems are not uncommon on this type.
