Obverse description Cast brass cash coin featuring a central square perforation framed by raised borders on both inner and outer edges. Four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) are arranged in cruciform fashion around the central aperture, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left: 咸豐重寶 (Xianfeng Zhongbao), denoting the reign title of the Xianfeng Emperor and the coin's status as a 'heavy treasure.' The raised characters are bold and well-formed, set against a flat, unadorned field typical of Qing dynasty cast coinage. The broad outer rim is plain and slightly raised, providing a clean border to the design.
