Aanvullende informatie

The Taihe Zhongbao was issued under Emperor Zhangzong during a period of relative Jin prosperity, but the ten-cash denomination reflects an ongoing struggle to manage a monetary system increasingly strained by the costs of maintaining the northern frontier against Mongol incursions that would, within a generation, destroy the dynasty entirely. Large-denomination cash coins of this period were chronically overvalued relative to their metal content, encouraging hoarding and melting almost immediately upon release.

The "smaller size" distinction within this type is meaningful — die varieties across the Taihe series show measurable inconsistency in flan preparation, and this subtype sits at the lower boundary of documented weights for the issue.
