Beschrijving keerzijde Central device features a coiled imperial dragon in profile, confronting a flaming pearl at centre, rendered in the redesigned style characteristic of the 1906 Hunan provincial issues. A circular Chinese legend arcs above the dragon within the field, while a romanised English legend in Latin characters curves along the lower periphery, identifying the issuing empire and coin type. The milled border frames the design on both sides.

Aanvullende informatie

The 1906 Hunan provincial issues fall within the period when the Qing court was attempting — inconsistently and without central coordination — to standardize machine-struck copper cash across the provinces. Hunan had established its own mint at Changsha in 1897, and by 1906 it was producing multiple die varieties as successive redesigns were pushed through without retiring earlier equipment. The "type 3" designation reflects one of several dragon punch modifications made during this rationalizing effort, distinguishing it from near-identical contemporaries by details invisible to casual inspection.

Y#10h.7 is among the more granular catalog entries in the Hunan copper series — a reflection of just how many discrete die marriages circulated simultaneously from a single provincial facility.
