Obverse description The obverse features a central rosette or floral ornament in the field, flanked on either side by Manchu script characters. Surrounding the central device, four large Chinese ideograms are arranged and read top to bottom, right to left, identifying the issuing province and mint. An outer legend of additional Chinese ideograms encircles the design, providing the reign title of the Guangxu Emperor, the denomination, and the currency designation. The overall layout is formal and symmetrical, consistent with Qing Dynasty provincial coinage conventions.
