| Obverse description | Central field bears the four-character legend 光緒元寶 (Guangxu Yuanbao, meaning 'Guangxu Original Currency') arranged around a central yin-yang symbol (taiji) enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The upper outer legend reads 河南省造 (Made in Honan Province) from right to left, while the lower outer legend reads 當制錢十文 (Worth Ten Cash Copper Coin). Manchu script characters ᠪᠣᠣ ᡥᠣ (Boo-he, denoting the Honan Mint) flank the central motif on left and right within the beaded circle. The coin is encircled by a milled border with a dotted inner ring framing all inscriptions. |
