El Banco Agrícola was established in Bolivia in the early 1890s to channel agricultural credit into a sector that the major commercial banks largely ignored. By 1903, when this note was issued, the bank was operating under serious liquidity constraints — Bolivia's rubber and tin export revenues were concentrated in institutions with closer ties to La Paz's financial establishment, leaving agricultural lenders perpetually undercapitalized.
Bradbury Wilkinson printed a wide range of Latin American provincial and sectoral bank issues during this period, often working from modular plate designs adapted across multiple clients.
