The copper-nickel outer ring bears the country name in Thai script arcing across the upper portion, flanked by Braille dots, with the Buddhist Era date in Thai numerals to the right. The denomination is inscribed at the base of the ring in both Thai (๑๐ บาท) and Arabic (10) numerals. |

Wat Arun — the Temple of Dawn on the Chao Phraya — was the royal temple of Thonburi during the brief reign of Taksin, before Rama I moved the capital across the river to Bangkok in 1782. Its appearance on this workhorse circulation coin reflects a deliberate policy by the Thai government to keep Buddhist and royal heritage in everyday commerce. The bimetallic format was introduced partly as an anti-counterfeiting measure following a surge in fake 10 baht pieces that had plagued the previous generation of coins through the 1990s.
