| Obverse description | Facing right effigy of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) depicted in a three-quarter bust, wearing spectacles and elaborate royal regalia with decorative epaulettes and a floral garland across the chest. The portrait occupies the aluminium bronze centre of the bimetallic flan. A Thai-script legend encircles the effigy within the copper-nickel outer ring, reading the full royal title of King Rama IX. |

Issued to mark the centenary of Thailand's Secretariat of the Cabinet, established in 1904 under Rama V as part of his sweeping administrative modernization program. The commemorative mandate fell under Rama IX — Bhumibol Adulyadej — who by 2004 had reigned for 58 years, making him the longest-serving monarch then on any throne. The bimetallic format had been standard for Thai circulating 10 baht pieces since 1988, a deliberate choice to deter counterfeiting of the high-denomination coin.
