Obverse description Central field features the arms-shaped emblem of the Bank of Mongolia enclosed within a stylised ornamental cartouche, with the cursive Cyrillic legend МОНГОЛ БАНК (Mongol Bank) inscribed across the centre of the device. Flanking the central emblem on the left and right are two vertical Traditional Mongolian script legends reading the name and title of the issuing state. The denomination 10000 is rendered in large numerals beneath the central emblem, followed by the Cyrillic word ТӨГРӨГ (Tögrög) in bold relief along the lower field. The coin's rim is defined by a continuous reeded border.

Reverse description Dominated by a large colour-printed bust portrait of Khubilai Khan facing slightly left, rendered in a painterly style evoking classical East Asian portraiture, depicting the Great Khan in traditional robes with a dark cap. To the upper field, the Latin legend KHUBILAI KHAAN arcs along the rim, with the dates 1215-1294/1260-1294 inscribed immediately below in smaller lettering. To the left of the portrait, a Traditional Mongolian script inscription identifies the subject in vertical columnar script. To the right, a finely engraved intaglio depiction of a Chinese junk under sail occupies the middle field, with the mint year 2015 struck below it. The portrait and select design elements are enhanced with applied polychrome colour.
