Kazakhstan's shift to polymer for the 10,000 Tenge came as part of a broader modernization push by the Ulttyk Bank, following years of experimentation with hybrid and cotton-paper substrates in lower denominations. The move to polymer at this denomination level is notable — most central banks introduce the substrate at smaller values first and take years to migrate upward.
