| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central design depicts a windsurfer in dynamic action, leaning back against the boom of a large sail that dominates the upper left of the field, with stylised waves rendered in the lower portion to evoke an open-water setting. A serial number 3425 appears on the sail. To the right of the central motif, the multi-line legend XXVII OLYMPIC GAMES SYDNEY 2000 is inscribed in block capitals, with the coin date 1999 positioned below in the lower right field. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Somalia had no functioning central government in 1999 — the state had collapsed in 1991 and would not see a transitional authority until 2000. These Olympic issues were licensed through private minting arrangements that exploited Somalia's nominal sovereignty, with the actual production contracted to foreign mints entirely unconnected to Mogadishu. The country issued dozens of such collector pieces through the late 1990s, few of which ever circulated or were even recognized domestically.
The Sydney Games themselves opened in September 2000, meaning this piece was struck a full year before the event it commemorates.
