背面描述	The reverse presents a naturalistic grouping of three Serengeti wildlife animals in high relief against a mirror-polished field: a male lion standing to the left with a full mane, a cheetah seated in the centre foreground, and a zebra standing to the right. Above the animal group, at the upper centre, is an oval cartouche bordered by a ring of beads depicting an acacia tree on the savannah. The denomination '10000' appears in the lower central field, with the legend 'SERENGETI WILDLIFE' arcing along the upper border and 'SHILINGI ELFU KUMI' along the lower border, all within a beaded inner circle.

The Bank of Tanzania contracted production externally — the coin was not struck at any domestic facility. KM#42 is struck in .9999 fine gold, a purity specification that became increasingly common in the 1990s as mints competed with the Canadian Maple Leaf standard established in 1979.
