备注

The high-denomination 10,000 rupee note was demonetized by the Indian government in January 1978 under the High Denomination Bank Notes (Demonetisation) Act — the same sweep that also cancelled the 1,000 and 5,000 rupee notes. The stated rationale was to disrupt unaccounted wealth and black-money hoards. Notes surrendered for exchange were subject to scrutiny, which meant many holders simply did not present them.

Survival rate is genuinely low. The combination of limited original circulation and non-exchange at demonetization makes this one of the harder Reserve Bank high-denomination issues to locate in any grade.
