| Obverse description | The Ashoka Column capital vignette is centred on the obverse, flanked on either side by an ornate guilloche oval frame left blank for watermark viewing. The denomination '10000' appears in the upper corners and along the lower border, with 'TEN THOUSAND RUPEES' in English and 'BOMBAY' as the place of issue printed beneath the central vignette.
