Bolivia's inflation crisis of the early 1980s was among the most severe in Latin American history, and this note belongs to the opening chapter of that collapse. By 1984–85, inflation would exceed 20,000 percent annually, rendering denominations like this one functionally worthless within months of issue. The 10,000 Pesos Bolivianos, which would have seemed an enormous sum a decade earlier, became pocket change.
ABNC printed the series, as they had much of Bolivia's currency for decades — a relationship of convenience more than prestige by this point. In 1987, Bolivia redenominated at 1,000,000 to 1, introducing the Boliviano and retiring the entire Pesos Bolivianos series.
