| Reverse description | The reverse bears a full-color reproduction of Sandro Botticelli's 'The Birth of Venus', rendered with exceptional chromatic fidelity across the entire square surface of the coin. Venus stands centrally upon a large scallop shell rising from the sea, her auburn hair swept by wind, while to her left the wind gods Zephyrus and Aura, entwined and airborne, blow gentle breezes scattering roses across the scene. To her right, a female figure identified as one of the Horae or Graces advances to drape a flower-embroidered cloak around the goddess. The landscape features a calm seascape and distant shoreline rendered in soft pastel tones characteristic of Botticelli's Florentine Renaissance style. The coin's plain silver border frames the composition, allowing the artwork to occupy the full field without interruption by inscriptions. |

The Bank of Central African States — the BEAC — issues coins for six member nations, none of which have any particular cultural or historical connection to Botticelli or Renaissance Florence. These pieces exist purely as numismatic products for the collector market, a practice the BEAC has leaned into aggressively since the mid-2010s. At over a kilogram of copper with silver plating, the economics are straightforward: production cost is low, face value is nominal, and the coins never circulate.
KM#240 is part of a broader series pairing the CFA franc denomination with European masterworks.
